The training begins…of course I’ve been training since before Vol State this summer but now I’m really going to be stringing long mileage days together until I leave. I started this weekend with four long walks in a row. Not too bad but still wish I were faster. I’m still working on the strength part because I’m pretty tired when I get home each day and would rather still have some energy left in the day to do things. I left at 5 a.m. this morning so I could get done and home in order to go across the street for a wonderful Christmas dinner. Amazing the thoughts and fears that can go through your head as you’re plugging away. Even when listening to my audiobooks (there won’t be enough audiobooks to take me all the way across the country though. So it will be me, myself and I most of the way).
I know that this training is only a small part of what I still have to do to prepare. I’ve got the route planned (I hope it’s right) to the start of Vol State(2029 miles). I only have 133 days to get there which averages 15 miles a day. I’m hoping I can crank out 20 miles a day most days (except perhaps the mountains or if the weather is bad) so it will be very close but I’m going to try it.
I hope everyone has been having a great Christmas day. Remember that love really does make the world go around and is the most important thing there is. Practice love every day and with everyone you come across. Try to make someone else’s day better every day.
