Never know what you’ll find in the woods…..
I am very fortunate I live near a wonderful park. I have been training in it for a long time now but am always trying to find new paths. Saturday and Sunday I met some unique “training partners”. It’s interesting how you’ll miss things depending on where you’re looking (or not looking) and then when you see them, you’re wondering where they came from. I was already past this “lion” and for some reason turned around to see it. I had not seen it as i came head on but of course was in disbelief that anything like this could be in our park. So, I had to go back and look at it from the front. Probably not a good behavior for my upcoming trip but I was pretty sure we didn’t have real lions in our area. It’s just very strange that someone would stage this thinig in the park and leave it there????

Then yesterday I also found a new trail and hadn’t even known this one was there. I stop to get my footing because they path was steep and slippery and there staring me in the face was this monkey – nailed to a tree?

The other two pictures are of a bridge I discovered on the “Monkey trail” and a cardinal that was on the main path. I love finding things like this (as long as the “lions” remain stuffed.

Yesterday I was exhausted early on and had no clue why (I think I’ve contracted a virus but it can leave any time it wants right now). I stopped for a rest and looked at my phone and saw this wonderful post by Sherry Meador (https://www.facebook.com/sherry.meador.14/posts/1056322937910935?comment_id=1056414327901796) and it made me realize that I’m going to have to do this transcon the AA way – one day (or minute) at a time. You can feel great one minute and then cruddy the next and then pop back up to good again…it’s amazing and you just have to keep going. I am going to keep Sherry’s post and re-read it as I travel across the country. Thanks Sherry!
