The clock is ticking….2 weeks from today I leave San Antonio and head to California for the “start”. As many others have said, though, you cannot do this alone – well, others can but I can’t. As they say “it takes a village” – in my case I’ll settle for a bunch of great Army folks who are going to help me along the way (and have already banded together to help me in preparation). As two of thaty good friends will laugh at and understand, we have named this walk “Operation Rawhide” (this goes back to Vol State in 2018). This is to honor Bill Page and Regina Sooey, both of whom are going through some tough times right now and I will be thinking of them every step of the way.

But, I digress (even if it was an important digression). This fine group of folks will be manning an “operations center” for my entire walk. They are “forcing” me to check in 3 times a day (when they brought that up, it made me feel very fortunate) and will be tracking my Spot tracker page as well as this page to see what’s happening and what they can do to help. As you know I’m really concerned about water so that will be one of their primary jobs. But I have learned to let go (at least of this part) and let them do what they do best. I know my brother will be happy they are keeping track of me and that helps my peace of mind too.

It’s only fitting that i post this on Valentine’s Day as I love these guys/gals more than anyone can imagine and this is only one of the reasons. Thank you to all of Team PEB!
